gretaWe have over 50 muscles in our face and neck.
It is important to understand your facial structure and where the ‘sagging process’ often starts. Two areas of focus are the Temporalis and Frontalis Muscles.
Temporalis Muscles
Sagging may originate from the temporalis muscles at the sides of your face. When these muscles weaken, they can cause the nasolabial folds to become more prominent and the corners of your mouth to droop. To determine if this is a vulnerable area for you, place the heels of your hands on your temples, pressing inwards, upwards, and slightly back.
If you notice your nasolabial folds smoothing and your cheeks lifting, then your temples are your weakest point. An effective exercise for strengthening this area is the ‘Cat Eye.’
Frontalis Muscles
If adjusting the temples doesn't affect the centre of your face, then the frontalis muscle, situated on your forehead, might be contributing to the sagging. This can result in a worsening of hollows under the eyes, sagging in the eye corners, and the emergence of eye bags and jowls.
In this scenario, it's important to concentrate on exercises that lift the central facial region. An effective exercise for strengthening this area is the ‘Forehead Lift.’
